South Sudan is the youngest nation in the world, which was created under exceptional circumstances. The land occupied for nearly 40 years of war between the Arab north and indigenous peoples from the south. On such “burned land” the influence of Western culture on the inhabitants of the region was exceptionally small.
Coming to South Sudan, I was expecting a different way of seeing the world, but what I found there, surpassed my expectations. It turned out that the people living there come out of completely different assumptions than ours. Staying and working with the Sudanese from the south turned out to be a myriad of surprises, usually ridiculous and instructive, but sometimes I have to admit that I need a lot of patience.
