Northern Norway – the land of the sun

Free entrance

The northern reaches of Norway have something special. The landscape is much more severe, monolithic and sometimes more gloomy in comparison with the spectacular beauty of the fjords of Western Norway. But not in the landscape lies the biggest difference. Coming quickly on the Nordkapp we can easily overlook it, but for a longer stay we understand that this is not an ordinary place. As anywhere else the sun is a rhythm of life here.

Travel behind the Arctic Circle during the white nights of summer or winter darkness is like a journey to another planet. The division of a day to day and night does not exist. The year is divided into a period of darkness and light, and the life of people and animals are adapted to this.
