Karol Urbański

In 1984 he graduated from the State Ballet School in Łódź. As a dancer, he worked in the Grand Theatre in Łódź, the Grand Theatre – National Opera in Warsaw and the Norwegian National Ballet. In 2001, he began the studies at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Warsaw, which he completed in 2006 and defended his MA thesis “Dance as a subject of philosophy”. He taught classical and contemporary dance in ballet schools in Łódź and Warsaw, as well as ethics in the ballet school in Warsaw. As a classical and contemporary dance teacher, he cooperates with many professional groups (Kielce Dance Theatre, Baltic Dance Theatre, Opera Nova) and non-professional groups in Poland and abroad, conducting workshops and projects. He prepares and runs workshops for children.
As a choreographer, he has created ballet performances for adults and children, such as “The Story of Sin”, “The Nutcracker”, “Ngoma the Dancing Elephant”.
From 2012 to 2019 he was the head of the ballet group of the Opera at the Castle in Szczecin.
He was awarded the “Gloria Artis” bronze medal.
