Argentina. Puna de Atacama: volcanoes and Incas

room: Broadway
free entrance

Puna de Atacama is a region in the Andes located on the border of Argentina, Chile and Bolivia at an average altitude of about 3800-4500 m a.s.l. However, this is not a monotonous plateau.
Puna is famous also from numerous crater lakes, salt lakes. Poles explored Puna in the 1930s, climbing its highest peaks for the first time. But the Inca should be considered the first explorers. On the highest active volcano in the world? Llullaillaco, a few meters below the summit is a sanctuary where the Incas sacrificed three children.

Iwona Szumacher will lead the meeting.
